The extensive complex is listed in its entirety as national heritage. The still existing buildings from the early construction phase 1919-1934 (these are around 20) and the cemetery are designated as individual monuments. Since 2015, some of them could be repaired with funds from the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art and the Deutschen Stiftung Denkmalschutz.

The complex, which has now circa 40 edifices (the youngest from 2009), is open to visitors for their own exploration all over the year and accessible without barriers. The booklet "Denkmale 1919-34 im Taschenformat" ("Monuments 1919-1934 in pocket-size") explains the history of the individual monuments and contains an overview plan for orientation. It is (in English language) available at the Loheland store & café for a fee of € 0.50.
